At Shama Vikas Samiti, we believe that real empowerment begins with skill and knowledge. Through our Training and Capacity Building Programmes, we focus on equipping the youth of Bihar with employable skills, confidence, and practical knowledge to help them build a better future.

Under this initiative, we run two major training programs:

1. Kushal Yuva Programme (KYP)

(Under Bihar Skill Development Mission, Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar)

The Kushal Yuva Programme (KYP), launched in 2017, is one of our flagship initiatives located at Patelnagar, Gaya Road, Islampur (Nalanda), Bihar. This programme is supported by the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) under the Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar.

Objective

The main goal of KYP is to empower the youth of Bihar by providing practical, industry-relevant skills that improve employability and promote entrepreneurship. The programme bridges the gap between traditional education and the job market, helping young individuals become self-reliant and confident contributors to the state’s economy.

Key Features

• Comprehensive Skill Development: Training modules are designed to meet the latest industry demands, ensuring participants gain up-to-date, practical, and market-ready skills.

• Youth Focused: Specifically designed for young individuals aged 15 to 25 years, KYP focuses on developing communication, IT, and life skills—key areas for career and personality development.

• Community-Centered Approach: Rooted in the local community of Nalanda, the programme directly contributes to the economic and social upliftment of underprivileged families by producing a skilled workforce.

Impact

Since its inception, the Kushal Yuva Programme has successfully trained over 2,000 young individuals from the Nalanda region. Many have secured jobs in the private sector, started small businesses, or continued higher studies with confidence. The initiative continues to transform lives and strengthen Bihar’s youth-driven development.

2. Vocational Training for Youth

The Vocational Training for Youth programme focuses on providing hands-on skill development for rural and underprivileged youth. It is designed to prepare participants for self-employment, small enterprises, and private sector jobs.

Objective

To create sustainable livelihoods by training young men and women in vocational and technical skills relevant to local and regional job markets.

Key Features

• Industry-Aligned Training: Practical training sessions that align with the requirements of local industries, trades, and emerging markets.

• Job-Oriented Approach: Focus on skills that lead directly to employment or small business opportunities.

• Inclusivity: Special focus on youth from marginalized and economically weaker backgrounds.

• Holistic Learning: Alongside skill development, participants also receive guidance on soft skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

Impact

Through vocational training, hundreds of young people in Islampur and nearby regions have become skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and contributors to Bihar’s growing economy. The program not only enhances individual livelihoods but also strengthens community development by reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance.
